2022 Adult Summer Reading Club

Are you looking for something fun and free to do this summer? Join us for the St. Clair Shores Public Library Adult Summer Reading Program! This is a wonderful opportunity to read great books and maybe even bond over a few stories with a child, grandchild or another person in your life!

The Adult Summer Reading Program will run for six weeks, Monday, June 20 through Friday, July 29, 2022. This year, our theme is Oceans of Possibilities!

Who can participate?

The program will be open to adults, 18-years of age and older with a valid library card from any library in the Suburban Library Cooperative (SLC).

How it works?

1. Register for the program by completing the form below and returning it to the Adult Information Desk, or complete the online registration at, by July 29, 2022. You must be registered in order to be eligible to win prizes.

2. Start reading/listening to library books.

3. Each time you complete a book, stop by the Adult Summer Reading Program display and fill out an entry ticket. All tickets submitted will be entered into a weekly drawing for a gift card from one of our local businesses! One prize will be awarded every week. The drawings will be held every Monday morning for the six weeks that the program runs. Registrants may only win once during the weekly drawings. The grand prize drawing will be held on August 1st with the last weekly prize drawing.

a. For each adult library book read or listened to you will earn one entry ticket.

b. Read any five books to a child and you will earn one entry ticket.

c. Complete at least one row of the Book Bingo form to enter the grand prize drawing.

This program is generously funded by the Friends of the St. Clair Shores Public Library.

Book Bingo
Bingo Sheet

Patrons age 18 and over are invited to pick up a Book Bingo Sheet at the Library. Once you have marked at least five squares in a row, the Sheet can be turned in to be entered for our Book Bingo prize drawing. A book can only count for one square and only one Book Bingo Sheet can be turned in per person. Deadline to submit a Sheet is July 29 at 5 PM.

Story Time for Adults
July 6, 13, 20, 27, 7-8 PM

On Wednesday evenings in July, the public is invited for Adult Story Time. Story Times will take place outside of the Library building if the weather is nice (bring your own lawn chair) or inside if it's inclement weather. Come and listen to short stories, essays, or a book chapter or two, preceded by a children’s book-like visits to the movies used to be: first a short, then the main feature. No cost or need to register, just an hour of good stories in a community setting.

Pet Parade
(Open to All Ages)
Friday, July 15, 2 PM
(Rain date July 22)

Entry Form
Hold Harmless Agreement

The theme of Summer Reading 2022 is “Oceans of Possibilities” and in keeping with this theme, we are inviting all pet owners to come to the Library for an outdoor Pet Parade. Dress your pet (or decorate their home) in keeping with the theme: would your dog make a great octopus? Can you imagine your cat as a pirate? Would your turtle like a home make-over and enjoy a lagoon-like setting? The theme is yours to interpret as you will.

All animal entries will be judged. Prizes will be awarded for best costume/home. Winners must be present to win.

Meet outside the St. Clair Shores Public Library (Jefferson Avenue side). Pets and owners will “parade” from the parking lot, via the sidewalk, to the blue benches in front of the Library building. The judge will be at the blue benches. Pets and owners will continue to the sidewalk closest to Jefferson Avenue and head back toward 11 Mile Road. Pets and owners will assemble back near the bench to hear the winners announced.

To enter, please fill out the Entry Form and Hold Harmless Agreement, available at the Adult Information Desk in the Library or on the Library’s website. Entry “payment” the day of the parade will be any item to benefit the animals at the Humane Society of Macomb such as cat food, cat litter, creamy peanut butter, Clorox bleach, dry dog food, puppy pads, Dawn dish soap.

Entry forms and Agreements will be accepted from July 1 through July 13; please drop off entry form with the Hold Harmless Agreement, at the Adult Information Desk in the Library. Pets will not be allowed to participate without a previously submitted entry form and Hold Harmless Agreement.

Spectators are welcome!
