Scheel’s Gas Station
33601 Jefferson Ave.

The 1930 census lists Charles Scheel as the proprietor of a gas station; the address given in the 1944 tax assessment roll is just “Beverly and Jefferson”. Scheel was born in Kitchener, Ontario.

Charles Scheel married in 1926 at the age of 27, and his occupation on the marriage certificate was listed as “service station.” By the 1940 US census, Scheel, his wife Leona, and their two daughters were living near the gas station.

Sometime between 1953 and 1957, the gas station became Lee’s Standard Service Station. It remained Lee’s until at least 1995.

Now: Tim’s Bike Shop
Opened: 2000
Owner: Timothy Focht
